Online dating is one of the easiest ways to meet a lot of great people for friendship or romance. It gives you the anonymity and safety that nothing else can. You can be sitting at your home or at a coffee shop and chatting with a person you would like to know better. With the lapse of time you can feel that you are falling in love and want to meet that man offline. However, there are dangers to consider.
While most men on dating sites are honest, caring and serious, there are always bad guys who can abuse you.
- If you decide go out for the first date, meet in a well-populated and familiar public place close to your home. You can go to a popular restaurant, a coffee house, a zoo or a museum.
- Tell a friend who, where and when you will be meeting. Agree to call your friend when you return.
- Never arrange for your date to pick you up at home. Take your own car or a taxi. When the date is over, leave on your own as well.
- Don't drink excessively because it could impair your ability to make well-considered decisions.
- Charge the battery and take your cell phone with you.
- Don't reveal too much personal information. It's nice to get to know someone and ask questions, but save your home address and place of work for a time when you know your partner a little better than online chat.
- Pay attention to details. If your date asks you for money or tries to get your bank account information - leave immediately.
- Trust your instincts. If you don't feel comfortable meeting your date at a particular place, cancel the meeting or schedule it at another place. Any dating should be fun and safe experience.
